This lucky girl will live with Anita and Keith in the Bolton area and we wish them every happiness in the future. Anita and Keith already know this girl has a serious 'toy addiction' and are prepared to keep her in the style she is accustomed to! We look forward to regular updates.
Hello supporters, it’s time for our Friday Feature again. Thinking about it maybe we should have changed the day this week as yesterday was “Thor’s day” (Thursday)!
Two year old Thor is fairly new to kennels so we are still getting to know him. What we can tell you is that he was quite timid when he first arrived at Makants earlier this month. Since then he has come on in leaps and bounds and has blossomed into a very affectionate dog who loves to play. Siobhan says he is excited to see visitors and collects toys, bringing them over asking to play.
Thor has become a firm favourite with the walkers as he is very good on the lead and is described as a ‘pleasure to walk’. He does not react to others dogs when out and about.
Thor seems to be a great all rounder with the potential to be a fantastic pet. If you would like to find out more about Thor please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
For the first of our Throwback Thursday features we catch up with adopted Makants hound Daisy. Daisy lives with Dave and was initially fostered in July 2015 and then adopted in October when Dave joined the 'failed fosterers' club!
Daisy quite likes to sleep in and would prefer her breakfast at midday if she could get away with it. However, on the days she does get up early,... she likes nothing better than a blast around the local field. Dave says Daisy is 'totally spoilt' and says she 'gets better fed than me'!
**If you would like to see your adopted hound appear in our Throwback Thursday feature please send in a photo and a few lines about them.**
Here's a photo of three of our hounds taken yesterday on the Phoenix Greyhound Group walk in Cuerden Valley park near Leyland.
At the front of the photo is foster hound Rufus, behind him adopted Makants hound Nadia and behind her adopted Makants hound Clyde. In fact we counted ten Makants hounds in total on the walk, always a lovely sight!
This week our Friday feature concentrates on a greyhound puppy - not something that we see very often in rescue.
Rufus is 9 months old, currently in foster with two cats and another greyhound, and is more than ready to move on to his forever home.
His foster carers describe him affectionately as a ‘gangly goofball’, who likes to collect things from around the house and return them to his bed... for ‘safe keeping’! They report he is completely house trained and is a very clean hound. Rufus the ‘dufus’ has been trained to live with cats - he’s completely cat friendly and lives in harmony with the resident cats - he even lets them pinch his fishy food!
Rufus is still a puppy, a large one at that, so is sometimes a bit uncoordinated and he won't be mentally mature for a while yet. As he is still a young dog he needs stimulation, walks, play and someone to be there for him most of the time. Ideally he'd also like to have canine company. He's eager to please, and would respond well to further training. Rufus is affectionate and loves his cuddles, but is still learning about sofas and laps.
To sum up - Rufus is good with all people and animals, and both large and small breeds of dog. Form an orderly queue supporters!
If you would like to find out more about Rufus featured here please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
