Our new boy Biffo with black and white markings can, apparently, also be known as a ‘moo moo’ or ‘cow hound’! Yes, this is what some dog lovers call hounds with Friesian cow type markings (you learn something new every day!)
This friendly boy is 6 years old and came into our rescue at the beginning of June. He is slowly learning about the outside world and is always pleased to see the walking volunteers each day. He is still a little strong on the lead as he likes to be in front, but to be fair he has only experienced group walks so far. He gets on well with the other greyhounds and attended the Great Global Greyhound Walk recently accompanying our walking co-ordinator Joe.
If you would like to find out more about Biffo featured here or any of our other hounds in need of re-homing please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
Throwback Thursday - Meg
We received this lovely photo of adopted Makants hound Meg earlier this month. Apparently, she loves her walks in the long grass, having a good run and a roll. She is quite partial to sausage rolls and her main hobby is chasing squirrels!
Many thanks to Dale and Simon for the update on this lovely girl.
If you'd like your adopted Makants hound to appear in this feature please send a message and recent photo to our facebook page or alternatively you can e mail to us at: [email protected] co.uk
Yet more good news on the homing front supporters, this time it's Rufus. This sweet young lad has been adopted by Mr and Mrs Richardson in Sale. We wish them all every happiness and look forward to regular updates.
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank foster carers Adi and Mandy who fostered Rufus preparing him for his forever home, their hard work is always appreciated.
Six year old Dutch has been retired from racing for two years now and joined the Makants family last month. Siobhan describes him as a ‘quiet and steady hound who loves to play ball’. She also has never heard him bark! Dutch has learnt to walk steadily with our volunteer walkers and seems relaxed around other dogs.
Our walking volunteer Michaela accompanied him on... Sunday’s Great Global Greyhound Walk and he loved being amongst all the other greyhounds. One of his favourite traits is that he loves to roll about on the grass when out on walks. In fact he decided to do this while we were waiting to take a group photo on Sunday - we had to wait for him!
Apparently Dutch also has uncontrollable ears which provide the walkers with much amusement. This lovely lad needs to find his forever home, it seems he will provide hours of fun to any prospective adopter.
If you would like to find out more about Dutch featured here please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
We’ve had an update about Marvin from his parents Jo and Alicia. They report that he has settledin well and that beneath that laidback exterior is a really cheeky character. He certainly knows what he wants from life, his favourite words are now ‘walkies’ and ‘bedtime’.
Marvin has had his first camping trip recently and they tell us that most of Yorkshire stopped to admire him!
Marvin appears to be spreading his love about as, rather than have a whole sofa to himself, he will cram on the edge of their sofa in the most awkward of positions if it means he can sit with them. Awww.
The photo shows the many moods of Marvin J
