There's no better way to start the week than with news of a homing! This time it's gorgeous Gazza, this lucky boy will live with Shirley, David and family in the Marple area. We send our best wishes for their future together and look forward to regular updates.
Here's his photo taken on adoption day - 23.9.17
We have wonderful news to share with you, Pixie has been homed! This little girl will live with Lynne and Pete Savage in Bury and we wish them all every happiness in the future.
This stunning photo of Pixie was taken by Calley Gibson, the antipodean author and social media 'Ma' to rescue dog Pikelet who visited kennels in August.
Friday feature - Charlie - 'O CHARLIE IS MY DARLING'
Four year old Charlie only arrived in kennels earlier this month but has settled well and made a big impression on Siobhan. He has also charmed everyone else who has met him so far. Charlie has 53 races under his belt and is a very friendly hound who is easy to walk. He does not show any reaction to smaller dogs when out on walks and gets on well with the other greyhounds.
Siobhan openly admits she is quite smitten with Charlie and she describes him as a 'darling', which reminds us of the Robbie Burns poem:
'O Charlie is my darling
My darling, my darling
Charlie is my darling
The young chevalier (knight)'
If you would like to find out more about this 'darling' or about any other hounds at kennels please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249, or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
We are pleased to announce our final re-homing this week - and it's Ollie! This boy came to us as a stray in very poor condition a couple of months ago. Since then he has blossomed, amused us at our fundraising events and has now bagged his forever home too!
Ollie will live with Phillip and Kimberley in Stockport. We wish them all every happiness for the future.
Our volunteers and hounds were out in force today at Pets at Home, Walkden on Saturday. We had a fundraising stall outside staffed by Marley, Rose, Janet and Dave assisted by adopted Makants hound Charlie.
Inside we had 10 hounds taking part in the Guinness World Record attempt to bathe as many dogs as they could in a day! The hounds taking part were: kennel hounds Sally (new), Biffo, Flynn, Thor, Thomas and Piggy. They were joined by foster hound Brin and adopted hounds Maddie, Glo and Flynn.
The hounds had many new experiences including lifts and let's just say some strategically placed fluffy toys were 'explored'! Thanks to everyone helping out today, hope you enjoy the photos of some of our gorgeous 'soggy doggies'.
Six year old Dutch has been retired from racing for two years now and joined the Makants family earlier this summer. Siobhan describes him as a ‘quiet and steady hound who loves to play ball’. Dutch is also described as a ‘big friendly lad’ and Siobhan says she has never heard him bark!
Dutch has learnt to walk steadily with our volunteer walkers and seems relaxed around other dogs. Dutch is currently in foster and his carer Ian reports that Dutch is clean in the house and is happy to be left for up to 4 hours on his own without incident. Apparently Dutch also has uncontrollable ears which provide much amusement!
This lovely lad now needs to find his forever home. If you would like to find out more about Dutch featured here, or any of our other dogs available for re-homing, please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
