Many thanks to volunteer Lynda for sending in this account of her volunteering with us:
"I have been involved with Makants for over four years now. I first heard about the rescue when I saw an advert in the Leigh Journal shortly after the rescue had been set up, and noticed that they were looking for walking volunteers.
I got in touch and joined the walking team and, correct footwear in place, often ventured out across the muddy fields. I felt that walking was probably not for me though after I had taken part in several ‘mud rolling’ sessions in the nearby fields and thought my talents might be best used away from muddy fields!
I then became a member of the fundraising team which, though often taking part outside, doesn’t usually involve much mud! I love meeting the public and showing them what wonderful pets greyhounds make while also raising much needed funds for the rescue. I also now co-ordinate vet runs for the kennel dogs and help with cleaning duties too.
I really enjoy volunteering for Makants as I love what the rescue is all about, I have met some great people while volunteering and enjoy being part of the ‘Makants family."
Thank you Lynda from all at Makants!
