We have heard the sad news of the passing of another Makants hound, lovely big lad Pedro.
Pedro was adopted and much loved by John, spending four happy years together. Pedro had many other special people in his life too who helped him on his journey from Leigh Cats and Dogs Home to his forever home. We thank Penni and Danny, Maria and Pete too, our love goes to them all.
Today, very sadly we have news to share of the recent passing of one of our first homed hounds, the lovely Honey. Honey is fondly remembered and went to live with Jill and canine companion Earl, having four happy years together. Jill says of Honey: 'I miss her so much, she was such a special girl and helped me through some tough times she was an amazing dog so loving and so sweet'.
We are thinking of you Jill and send love from all the Makants family.
Pheby visited the Vets yesterday and we're pleased to report she has put on weight. It appears she has some fluid on her elbow but this is expected to disperse without any intervention. Her teeth do need a clean up but nothing major, all in all she's doing very well.
We hope you enjoy these photos from her walks this weekend with her friend Lou Lou.
**Our fundraising event, due to take place this Thursday, has unfortunately been CANCELLED. This is due to the ill health of the Mediums who were leading the evening. We wish them a speedy return to good health and hope to re-schedule in the near future. However, we will issue FULL REFUNDS to all who have already bought tickets.
Refunds can be obtained in the following way:
*If you paid by Paypal a refund will be issued automatically, there is no need to do anything * If you paid by cash, refunds are available every Saturday morning at kennels on production of your ticket (10-12.30) * If tickets were purchased from the Royal British Legion Boothstown, please contact the club directly for a refund.
Our Friday feature this week concentrates on friendly, Jet black boy, Brandy. This stunning lad arrived with us last month and has settled in well.
Brandy is such a loving boy who craves attention and a cuddle. Siobhan says he enjoys a great belly rub in the evening before he goes to bed, so it seems he would definitely make a great cuddle buddy on your sofa!
He is a friendly boy, loves his walks and hasn’t appeared to react negatively to other breeds of dogs. Hens on the other hand are quite a different matter!
We think Brandy would be equally happy as an only dog or with another hound for company. If you would like to find out more about this loving boy please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988. Alternatively you can complete our short homing questionnaire on our website www.makantsgreyhoundrescue.co.uk
Siobhan and Sue had a very tiring day on Saturday travelling down to Heathrow to collect Fire (now known as Pheby). After a long flight Pheby settled, had a good night and spent some time with Siobhan outside on Sunday - looking around in amazement!Siobhan has changed her name to 'PHEBY' (pronounced fee-bee). This is Siobhan's maiden name and has special significance as yesterday was the first anniversary of her Mum's passing. We must respectfully point out that Pheby now needs time to settle in away from the public eye. In this respect we will NOT be taking any enquiries concerning her rehoming nor will we allow requests to visit her. All we want for her in her first few days is to feel secure, loved and comfortable. At Makants we have a fantastic homing record as we ensure that our homes and hounds are very thoroughly matched. Although we know that many people will be interested in the journey of all the Macau greyhounds, we must point out that we have many other greyhounds with us in need of a home. If you wish to discuss homing ANY of our hounds you can contact Siobhan on 076960561988 or Sue on 07794463249. Thank you.
