We had a team at the Haigh Woodland Artisan Market today, the hand knitted coats made by our crafters were literally flying off the shelves! Many thanks to our crafters for supplying us with coats to sell and to our fundraising team today.
We have a crafters group on facebook, please look for 'Makants Crafters' to join.
Supporters, we've sad news to share with you today. After the recent death of Patrick his owner, Makants hound Bobby came back into our care and was subsequently fostered by supporters Michelle and Anthony.
Very sadly Bobby had to be put to sleep last week as a check up of his smelly teeth found that he had a tumour that had spread through the bone of his jaw.
At kennels we have fond memories of Bobby from his time spent with us in 2016. Siobhan and Heather had to provide a 'hotel' service for him including carpeting (as he didn't like slippy floors) and Siobhan provided meals of home cooked mince. His foster carers also treated him as a hotel guest and we thank them for making what was his last week as comfortable as possible. Thanks also to Rebecca for getting in touch wanting the best for Bobby.
We send our thanks to the Pets at Home, Horwich store today.Recently we were lucky to receive the donations left in an overflowing charity bin at the store. Many thanks to everyone who donated on behalf of the hounds in our care.
upporters, we are already thinking ahead to our Christmas Fair and hope you can help us make it the best ever. We are looking for donations for our tombolas, in particular bottles of anything - wine, water, pop etc, also wine gift bags and chocolates. Any items can be handed in at walking times at kennels (1.15-2.30 weekdays and 10.15-12.30 weekends) With thanks in advance for your help.
Some of our volunteers enjoyed their 'five minutes of fame' at the weekend thanks to student journalist Ben and film student Elanya.
The Salford Uni students contacted us to make a film about the work we do at kennels as part of their studies. After spending time at kennels filming they then headed down to meet the fundraising team at the Pets at Home Walkden store.
It was a great experience for everyone involved and both Ben and Elanya genuinely seemed to enjoy meeting the dogs and volunteers. We look forward to seeing the finished film and send our thanks to them both for spending time with us.
A reminder our kennels shop is OPEN every Saturday morning 10 am - 12.30 pm. We're at Makants Farm, Mort Lane, Tyldesley M29 8PF. We have coats for EVERY SIZE of dog, martingale collars and leads, and many hand made items ideal for gifts.
You are welcome to bring your dog along to 'try before you buy'.
