For as little as £5 a month you can make sure there's always somewhere safe and warm for greyhounds to call home while they wait to find a family. You can sponsor a kennel for 3 months (£15), 6 months (£30) or 12 months (£60). We have kennel numbers 1 to 10 to choose from with details of who is occupying your sponsored kennel (please note however, this will change as the dogs are homed).
Your sponsorship money will ensure support for veterinary care, food, bedding, rehabilitation, enrichment care and grooming for our kennel guests.
You will receive a certificate showing details of your sponsorship which can be personalised for someone special or as a gift to celebrate a special occasion. Kennel sponsorships can also be a memorial for a loved one or pet.
Payments can be made via our PayPal account [email protected] Please indicate in the instructions section which kennel you would like to sponsor, whose name you would like on the certificate and whether it is for a special occasion or memorial. If you need your certificate for a certain date we ask that you give us sufficient notice of at least two weeks.
Please can you forward your name, address and email regarding sponsorship of a kennel.
Supporters, we've sad news to share with you today. Last week we learnt that Janet Splaine, a supporter from the early days of the rescue, had recently sadly passed away.
Janet was with us at the beginning, was a regular walking volunteer as well as a talented seamstress making dog coats for our fundraising events. Although unwell for some time she kept in regular contact with us and visited the rescue when she was able.
We send our sincere condolences and love to Tony and her family.
Our fundraising team had a 'frighteningly' good day at the Pets at Home, Horwich store on Sunday. Many thanks to all the staff at the store, everyone that came along to chat and those who gave donations.
Our thanks to the Makants team there today - Wendy, Fiona, Janet, Pat, Lynda, Dave, Chris, Kathleen, John and Pauline.
The hounds representing Makants were Kate, Bear, Sally, Candy and Pal.
We start the week with homing news and this time it's RAV! This lovely boy will now be known as RALPH and will live with Louise and Dan in the Whitefield area. They tell us he is a 'really happy dog' and that his current project is mastering the stairs - apparently he can go up but not down yet!
We send our congratulations and best wishes for their future together.
Apologies for poor adoption photo, it was pouring with rain and there were many distractions in the kennels shop :)
‘Working as a volunteer rescue dogs have been there for me for the last 5 years helping me through bereavement, family living away and not seeing them as much as I’d like to. It’s given me the opportunity to meet some wonderful people who are all committed to helping these hounds’. Lynda
‘I was always a shy person (probably still am ) until Siobhan introduced me to a big brindle greyhound called Charlie. He accompanies me fundraising and gives me confidence. He’s also been joined by Bear and Jake, all Makants hounds. Having these gentle dogs in my life has helped me to make lots of new friends and I’ve learned a lot of new skills, you could say a new world has opened up.’ David
‘Having greyhounds in our lives has definitely made us healthier - we know we have to go out for a walk no matter what the weather! There is a strong sense of responsibility, a welcome change in lifestyle involving fundraising, social dog walks and volunteer events. You’re assured of a lovely welcome you get when you come home, no matter if you’ve only been out for 5 minutes, plus they never judge you and point out your faults, they just love you. We really just can’t imagine life without them. Hopefully we have made a similarly positive impact on their lives - we think we have’. Mary and Stewart
