This lucky girl will live with Anita and Keith in the Bolton area and we wish them every happiness in the future. Anita and Keith already know this girl has a serious 'toy addiction' and are prepared to keep her in the style she is accustomed to! We look forward to regular updates.
Hello supporters, it’s time for our Friday Feature again. Thinking about it maybe we should have changed the day this week as yesterday was “Thor’s day” (Thursday)!
Two year old Thor is fairly new to kennels so we are still getting to know him. What we can tell you is that he was quite timid when he first arrived at Makants earlier this month. Since then he has come on in leaps and bounds and has blossomed into a very affectionate dog who loves to play. Siobhan says he is excited to see visitors and collects toys, bringing them over asking to play.
Thor has become a firm favourite with the walkers as he is very good on the lead and is described as a ‘pleasure to walk’. He does not react to others dogs when out and about.
Thor seems to be a great all rounder with the potential to be a fantastic pet. If you would like to find out more about Thor please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
Here's a photo of three of our hounds taken yesterday on the Phoenix Greyhound Group walk in Cuerden Valley park near Leyland.
At the front of the photo is foster hound Rufus, behind him adopted Makants hound Nadia and behind her adopted Makants hound Clyde. In fact we counted ten Makants hounds in total on the walk, always a lovely sight!
Our fundraising team were at a new venue for us on Saturday - Jollye's Pet Store in Bolton kindly agreed to let us fundraise there at short notice. We were made to feel very welcome, even having hot drinks made for us! Thank you Jollye's and thanks to all our fundraising team for giving their time for the greyhounds.
For our Friday Feature this week we throw the spotlight on new boy Marvin.
Marvin has just turned four and is a super chilled, friendly, boy who arrived less than two weeks ago at our kennels. He walks well on the lead, loves to play with toys and is generally a good all rounder.
Marvin also doesn’t like to waste energy as we saw on Tuesday when we had visitors at kennels. He was so chilled throughout their whole visit, lying ‘roaching’ on his bed, he certainly didn’t see the point in wasting energy getting up!
As you will see from the photo Marvin has a slightly different shaped nose, what is known as a ‘roman nose’ and in this respect has earned a few nicknames, ‘schnozzle’ being one of them!
So far Marvin has made an excellent impression on us, Siobhan has already admitted she has a soft spot for him too!
If you would like to find out more about Marvin or any other hounds available for homing please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
Lovely Lottie was originally homed back in the summer last year. However, due to increased work commitments we were asked to look for another home for her. We are happy to say that Lottie will now live with Andrew and Mel and we wish them every happiness for their future together.
This week we throw the spotlight on four year old Jackie who is currently in foster with a female greyhound. His foster carers report he has settled well and have found him to be ‘excellent with children and small dogs, a true gentle giant’.
He is a playful lad and is always extremely happy to see you. He loves attention and having his ears and tummy tickled! He is a bit of a hoarder though and doesn’t mind what he collects from squeaky soft toys to stinky socks - if it’s missing you know he will have had something to do with it!
His foster carers report he likes to watch a bit of TV and is particularly fond of ‘Spies in the Wild’
If you would like to find out more about Jackie featured here please contact either Sue our re-homing co-ordinator on 07794463249 or Siobhan at kennels on 07960561988
